Star Aniseed, scientifically known as Illicium verum is the spicy fruit obtained from the evergreen tree which is native to South-West China. It has similar flavour and taste like that of the anise seed. The tree bears star-shaped fruits which turns to a red rust colour when ripe and contained inside are amber coloured seeds. Both the seed as well as the husk are used as spice.
